Roof styles we quote

Landscape plans and specifications describe shelters many ways. The overview below shows typical categories—your drawings may use different wording, and that is fine. Include the roof type, dimensions, and site plan when you request a quote.

Overview of commercial shade structure roof styles: squares, monoslopes, gables, hips, crossing, hexagon, octagon, and pergolas and arbors
  • Squares

Four-sided pavilion roofs for picnic areas, plazas, and park gathering spaces.

  • Monoslopes

Single-slope lean-to canopies along pools, courts, walks, and building entries.

  • Gables

Classic pitched two-slope roofs—common on timber-frame and municipal picnic pavilions.

  • Hips

Four-sided sloped roofs for playgrounds, parks, and large open shade areas—often greater coverage than gable layouts with a refined finished look. See hip examples.

  • Crossing

Intersecting gable roofs covering extended picnic, event, or recreation zones.

  • Hexagon

Six-sided pavilion roofs for distinctive park, campus, and civic focal points.

  • Octagon

Eight-sided gathering structures for community parks and public assembly areas.

  • Pergolas & arbors

Linear or open-roof shade along promenades, entries, and building faces—see pergolas, arbors & entrance frames.

Hip shade structures

Hip canopies offer greater shelter coverage compared to a standard gable while using a similar column layout and roof area. The advantage for many landscape architect and municipal projects is the refined, finished appearance—sleek lines and a polished, professional look that reads well in parks, campuses, and recreation sites. Steel closed-end hip canopies combine durability, weather protection, and visual appeal.

Plans may call these hip roofs, hip pavilions, hip canopies, or simply shade structures—we quote downcurve, multi-post, and single-post configurations. Request a quote with your roof geometry and dimensions.
